Filed under: Improv, Shows, Announcements, News
This is why we are pleased to announce that in the first week of the new year, the Constans will finally bear witness to the only TRUE art form left in this world, the only art form concerned with the TRUTH, the only art form that TRULY has no money in it...
Improvisational and Sketch Comedy.

On January 13th and 14th at 8 p.m. in the Constans Theater, TSF is going to make you cry with laughter. And if you don't laugh, you get your money back...OH WAIT, MAINSTAGE IS TOTALLY FREE!
The TSF long form and short form teams will be performing both nights along with special guests No Southern Accent.
While you'll want to skip your first week of classes, you won't want to skip this.

Improv Blast! presents: The Reckoning
Filed under: Shows, Things that are Awesome, News
A now-yearly tradition is Improv Blast! -- a mini-festival in which TSF brings down some of the best improv comedians in the biz to perform and do workshops with us.
This year, we've stumbled upon the good fortune to bring down The Reckoning, one of the longest-running troupes in Chicago and regarded as performing The Perfect Harold. Not only that, but UF grad student and Reckoning alum Beau Golwitzer will be performing with them as well.
Not only will we get the pleasure of a performance, but there will be workshops available on Saturday (4/9) afternoon at noon to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. completely FREE. Just email us at theatrestrikeforce@gmail.com.
Join us for a night of unparalleled hilarity and an invaluable learning experience!

12 Hours of Improv
Every year, Theatre Strike Force takes part in an annual charity event called Relay for Life. For those of you who aren't familiar, Relay is an 18-hour long event held to raise money and awareness for The American Cancer Association and its research and outreach programs. TSF loves kicking cancer in the ass, so we hold various shows and events up until the date of the event to raise money.

Money?
Our biggest and baddest of them all is 12 Hours of Improv -- a day-long marathon in the Orange & Brew on the ground floor of the Reitz Union from noon to midnight in which we do not stop tickling your funny bone for one minute. THIS FRIDAY (FEB. 25), You'll see groups from all around Gainesville all day long capped off with a big ol' fashioned Gator Nights show! All of this could be yours for the simple, easy payment of whatever you have in your heart to give.
Relay is truly something special, so come out and be a part of it all!

Mainstage: Bringing It All Back
Filed under: Shows, Announcements, Press, News
The spring semester is starting out with a bang, and Theatre Strike Force is bringing you the cherry to top off this sundae of badassery.
Many moons ago, TSF had a show called Mainstage. This show was it: the bomb, the best of the best, the rolicking good time that made people cream their seats. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond our control caused us to lose this great opportunity. However, years (seriously...three years) of hard work, a few batted eyelashes and quite possibly something Katie is not proud of, we GOT IT BACK!
TSF is bringing it ALL back to you. As opposed to withholding some of it for ourselves to use while we cry over pints of Ben & Jerry's AmeriCone and watch Simpsons re-runs on a Friday night. WE GO OUT, OK?!
WHEN? FEB. 10-12 (THIS Thurs., Fri. and Sat. THREE NIGHTS OF FUNNY!) at 8 P.M. Get there early to get your ticket to get in because there is limited seating!
WHERE? The CONSTANS THEATRE mainstage, located in the theatre building directly across from the Reitz Union entrance in the Colonnade at the box office. Stand on the Colonnade and look at the first floor entrance. Turn 180 degrees. Walk that way.
WHAT? This show promises to be a smorgasbord of all the great things TSF has to offer in a theatre setting and TWO ACTS: the first act is the Short Form Team and TSF Sketch, the second features two versions of The Sunday Group doing the form they plan on bringing to Chicago for the College Improv Tournament (CIT) and then the special super Spring 2011 Sunday Group performing an Armando Diaz.
HOW MUCH? FREE. SO FREE. MORE FREE THAN YOU COULD HAVE EVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE.
WHY? Because we f*cking can!
Look out for us in Turlington Plaza, Plaza of the Americas and the Reitz Union Colonnade promoting our asses off all this week. We've got some saucy tricks up our sleeve, Gators.

TSF is Gary
Filed under: Improv, UF, Shows, Announcements, Things that are Awesome, Press, Our Videos, News

Finally, a candidate who knows how to connect with the American people. Gary is the only person in America who knows what America really wants. He's a lunch tray full of all your favorite foods. You can hold on to the cake, Lunch Lady Liberty -- we got bowl-full of icing.
We couldn't be more excited about this guy, and neither can a growing number of Americans, according to an article in the Independent Florda Alligator. Gary has literally made his mark on UF campus. He's cozied with students in their dorm rooms via inspiring TV spots. Gary enthusiasts have rallied in Turlington Plaza shouting their support of the candidate America has been waiting for.
As a climax to this exciting campaign, TSF will be presenting a political rally in support of Gary this Monday, Oct. 27, at 9 p.m. in the Reitz Union Rion Ballroom. Join us for a night of special guest speakers, inspirational videos, and a rousing speech by the messiah himself.
Political comedy, folks. It's in. The truth makes everything funnier. Scarier, but funnier.
We'll see you Monday night. We are Gary.

When the cold opening can't get hotter
Filed under: Improv, UF, Shows, Behind the Scenes, Look, We Found Funny, The Internets, Press, Our Videos
Hey everyone,
What a time for strong openings!
A few weeks ago in Beijing, American Olympic athlete Lolo Jones got off to an early lead in the women’s 100 meter hurdle, just to have her foot snag the second to last hurdle. The minor stumble cost her the gold medal.
Back in June, Sen. Barack Obama’s numbers were soaring in the polls after he clinched the Democratic nomination. Now, he’s bogged down trying to explain what he meant by “lipstick on a pig.”
On that same note, two weekends ago saw the return of two live comedy shows that had strong openings and mediocre follow-ups. Luckily, in the world of live comedy, audiences are surprisingly optimistic. One solid joke can save a good backrub’s worth of eye-rolls. And if you catch them at the start, they’re more willing to wade through the muck with you.

TSF presents: SUMMER KNIGHTS
Filed under: Improv, UF, Shows, Tips on How to Live a Life, PSA, Announcements, The Future, News

It's summer in Gainesville, and the city is on fire.
So what do we do? Do we place our hopes in an idealist politician to clean up the streets? Do we channel our fear to fight our enemies on our own terms? Or do we simply ask...
...WHY SO SERIOUS?
Come laugh away your worries with a wild night of FREE improv comedy with Theatre Strike Force. Starting Friday night, people will laugh.
Meet us at the auditorium (room 1064) in Weimer Hall, the journalism building that is located across the North Lawn from the Reitz Union. Show starts at 10 p.m., and seats are first come, first serve, so get there early!

Operation: Improv Storm
Filed under: Improv, UF, Shows, Announcements, The Future, News
"Mission accomplished."
Not since "premature ejaculation" have two words jumped the gun more.
We did it, troops! With four shows booked at dorms across campus, I think it's safe to say we're well on our way in liberating campus residents from the hands of tyranny... the tyranny of not having enough improv shows.

Jennings area students take the celebration to the streets. (AP)
It all begins this Sunday, July 20, at 5:30 p.m., when TSF will entertain the residents of Springs Residential Complex during an afternoon barbecue. Afterwards, we'll regroup at the Beaty Towers Commons at 8 p.m. for another show for a group of high school students.
On the evening of Wednesday, July 23, we'll move into the Murphree Area to perform as part of MAC's Alcohol Awareness program, which runs from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.
A week later, on Wednesday, July 30, TSF will resurface at the Jennings Basement for a show at 8 p.m.
So tear down that statue of Albert A. Murphree! Paint those thumbs! Tighten the crotch harness on that flightsuit, because TSF's got a full-scale invasion on its hands!
Soon enough, we'll be kicking down your door in the middle of the night and screaming at you to watch us do improv. Now, you can enjoy shows that stretch on for years and years, with no real exit strategy. And if you thought Abu Ghraib was fun, just wait until you see what we'll do with our games "Moving Bodies" and "Slideshow!"
USA's got IRAQ; TSF's got IRHA. With any luck, our IR-- will like us better.
Stop on by, now.

Some great troupes performed, including the debut of the brand-new TSF musical troupe: AM-Radio.

At the end of the night our voices were gone and our minds were mush, but it was all worth it, because we raised $680. If you add in the $1800 (!) from our Date Auction, and money raised by individuals as well as at Relay For Life, then you get... our final total... which was.... drumroll please... ... ... I don't know exactly. BUT, I know what it was very near. Going by TSF bylaws, we round up to the nearest thousand, so... WE DID IT!!! We raised $5000 for the American Cancer Society. We are the champions... 2 Legit 2 Quit... Un Dos Tres, Ale Ale Ale.
That is by far the most money TSF has ever raised for our Relay For Life team. In fact, we were the 3rd highest grossing team (of 55) that participated. We had some extra pride walking that track this year.*
Special thanks to Catherine Alford and Samantha Kanal for all their help putting the fundraisers and events together.

*-TSF walking with pride.
